Description
Turkey provides photographic opportunities like nowhere else in the world. Its rich history plunges us into a distant past. Its villages and natural wonders are a photographer’s dream. The kindness of its inhabitants will be in our best memories. This two-week adventure, organized in collaboration with Photo Life Magazine and Turkish Airlines, will include Istanbul's International Tulip Festival, Byzantine splendour, the geological formations of Cappadocia, stunning architecture and ancient Roman ruins and more.
Founded more than two millennia ago, Istanbul was first named Byzantium, then Constantinople, before becoming the magnificent capital of the Ottomans for almost five centuries. Straddling two continents, separated by the Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul city has amazing architecture and well-preserved monuments of a rich and eventful past. We will visit the city of Istanbul extensively as well as the Istanbul Tulip Festival where 13 million tulips were planted in 2013 — a unique photographic opportunity.
Among other sites, we will visit the Cappadocia region. With its extraordinary geological formations, it is a natural wonder. On a plateau consisting of a very soft agglomeration of ash and sludge discharged by volcanoes, natural erosion has sculpted cones, hoodoos, canyons and valleys as well as the famous fairy chimneys that we will have the opportunity of photographing. We will also visit the cave dwellings and rock-hewn churches dating from the eleventh century.
Ephesus is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the East. During the Roman Empire, Ephesus became the first port of the Aegean Sea and the majority of its well-preserved buildings date from this period.
A cruise on the Bosphorus will offer an impressive view of the most famous monuments of the city.
