Description
Join Louise Tanguay and Wally Schaber this September for an exciting photography experience on the Historic Dumoine River. Come and explore its many miles of beautiful unspoiled shorelines. The workshop is for the novice to the experienced amateur or professional. It will be hosted at the 200 year old timber main lodge of the Dumoine Rod and Gun Club.
The Dumoine River is flanked by majestic white pine forests combined with spectacular falls and rapids. A nature photographer’s paradise. The Dumoine is a wilderness wild river that forms the boundary between Pontiac and Temiscamingue counties in Western Quebec. It is Western Quebec’s best known and most loved wild river that flows over 100 km from the Kipawa Highlands to the Ottawa River.
The Quebec government recently conducted public forums to obtain input into its proposal to designate much of the watershed an aquatic preserve (see www.cpaws.org for details).
The Dumoine valley has been travelled by canoe since the Algonquin peoples first inhabited the region over 2,000 years ago. Primarily known today for its white water canoeing and fishing, the river has a rich history from the native Indian era to exploration, fur trading and logging.

Professional photographer and instructor Louise Tanguay will lead the photography workshop. Wally Schaber the logistics coordinator and historical guide will share his vast knowledge of the history of the Dumoine Watershed.
Each day there will be illustrated instructional digital
and slide lectures on photography and visual design, historical information, field trips with the instructors, and evaluation of your images. Experiment with new visual approaches and techniques. While we believe the workshop must have definite structure in format and instructional content, we will adapt the program to meet the needs and interests of participants and encourage personal ways of seeing and expressing. To ensure that we can work effectively with everyone on a personal basis enrolment in the workshop is limited to twelve persons.
A slideshow of participants’ photographs will be presented Sunday night before dinner.
The Dumoine Club lodge is located on a peaceful section of the river with walking trails leading to additional lakes nearby. A spouse or friend who enjoys fishing, walking, nature, good food and company but isn't into photography is welcome to sign up.
