A true poet of images, Louise Tanguay has an original and very personal approach to nature. Her photography has won numerous prizes. She has had multiple exhibitions and has been published in prestigious magazines and newspapers throughout the world. She has authored articles for the magazines Photo Life and Photo Sélection, and her illustrated conferences are always much appreciated by the public.
Louise Tanguay has published a dozen works, including two coffee-table books, Natura and Flora at Editions de l’Homme. Over 10,000 copies of Natura were sold. Between 2002 and 2004, she produced a series of guide books on gardens in Quebec. One of them, the Reford Gardens, immediately became a best-seller and was followed by Treasures of the Reford Gardens in the spring of 2006. Jewels of Hawai’i, a book on Hawaiian gardens, was published in 2010.
For the past several years, Louise Tanguay has offered instructional workshops and has led groups of photographers on foreign trips. Hawaii, Paris, Tuscany, Morocco, and Namibia are among her recent destinations. Since 2005, she has been teaching photography at the International Summer School of Laval University in Percé.
Originally from Hearst in northern Ontario, she now works out of Gatineau in the Outaouais region.
Books
Louise Tanguay has published many works. She has produced two coffee-table books, NATURA and FLORA. NATURA casts a poetic and inspiring eye on nature, FLORA is completely dedicated to plants and flowers. The Reford Gardens and Treasures of Reford Gardens, books illustrated with Louise's photographs, made the best-seller lists of the summers of 2004 and 2005.
She has also produced the photographs and did the layout for a series of Guides to the Gardens of Quebec, published in both English and French. The collection currently groups six volumes, all beautifully illustrated, which are great ambassadors for the impressive public gardens of the province.
A new book featuring Louise’s work has just been published. Jewels of Hawai’i describes Allerton Garden and McBryde Garden on the island of Kauai.

Near and Far documents the collection of paired photographs that hang in the eighty-one family suites at Ronald McDonald House Toronto. Each pair consists of one aerial and one detail photograph, some from places close by and some from far and wide in the world. They are remarkable for their visual impact and for their play on scale, pattern and colour. Some are whimsical. All of them arouse curiosity and wonder.
The collection and the book are inspired by the hope, strength and resilience of families. We hope that this book causes your thoughts to wander and makes you smile.
This book is available in a 13'' x 11'' format or 10'' x 8''. It is available online at Blurb.com. You can preview the whole book on the Blurb site. For full screen mode, clidk on the small square icon on the bottom right of the screen.
